Clown Workshops in New York

Clown Workshops in NYC

I recently had the pleasure of attending a clown/mask/commedia/mime workshop with Ryan Daniel Pater, one of the hosts along with Matthew Silver of the popular Wednesday night show “The Idiot’s Hour” at Baker Falls on the Lower East Side in Manhattan. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-idiots-hour-tickets-1412429006179?aff=oddtdtcreator(I highly recommend you go see these shows…..for $10 it is well worth it!) Ryan has always struck me as a performer who really enjoys himself and has fun with the audiences when he is performing in clown character on stage and I have seen Ryan time after time create funny moments without knowing he was going to be creating funny moments….he is a truly gifted improviser and clown and when I saw Ryan was leading a mask/commedia/clown workshop, I jumped at the chance to learn from Ryan. And so I travelled to the venue in Brooklyn where the workshop was being held and was not disappointed. Ryan is a generous and kind teacher who puts all the focus on the students. I have been in classes where teachers talk a lot and we as students wind up getting very little stage time….not so with Ryan…he coaches us and lets (helps) us discover new and funny ways of being and his use of masks in the workshop just made everything so much more pathetic (in a positive and funny way) and the workshop wound up being not only a great learning experience but also a truly entertaining and fun learning experience. Ryan is holding a workshop this week from 10 am to 2 pm starting on Monday and ending on Thursday in Brooklyn. I will be attending at least three of the four days. Come on out and join….it is a sliding scale payment and I have included a link for the workshop
